A Graduate’s take on Continuous Personal Development – from our new Account Executive, Alexandra Watkins
After 16 years in education, you would think learning more was the last thing on my mind…
But in fact, it’s the exact opposite.
As a graduate, the rewarding feeling of earning a degree is great, but the need to continue developing is very present. My educational studies may have finished, but the biggest lessons university has taught me are, knowledge is everywhere, learning is a key part of life and personal development is your most important skill.
The ability to continuously learn runs parallel with continuous personal development, which is vital to becoming the best version of yourself and opening the best pathways within life.
I feel like the capacity to learn is the most valuable asset you can have in all aspects and coming fresh out of university into a full-time job, I feel like I’m primed to take on more knowledge, skills and continue my growth.
Personally, I’m going to be doing this through my new journey in a full-time job, in an industry I am passionate about and ready to expand in. My academic development has been put on hold, and for the moment I am focussed on advancing my professional and workplace skills. Mosaic’s training courses such as Social Media Training and Digital Marketing Strategy Training courses are two that I’ve felt helped me begin my career in the industry, whether beginner or advanced we have courses that suit so many levels and needs. It’s all about figuring out where you are in life and what steps you need to take next.
The most stable thing within your life, is always going to be yourself, and so developing your core skills and mindset is the best investment you can make. In a world that is continuously evolving, advancing with the times makes sure you’re never left behind.
A thirst for knowledge is a skill that is valuable no matter where you go, for academic, personal and professional development, it is valued by all. So, making a conscious effort with this, even if it doesn’t come to you naturally, is something you can do to help yourself.
Have you felt like you could advance your Smartphone Video Skills, or even your Presentation Skills? Have a look at our range of courses and see if there is anything we can help you with on your journey of continuous personal development.
Even if you’re not sure where you need to start to continue advancing your teams’ skills and personal knowledge, we’re happy to chat with you and see if there’s anything we can do to help, and if not, we’ll point you in the right direction.
Development and knowledge also don’t always come in the form of textbooks and lectures, it comes through in conversations, in places, in people, in new technologies, in new doors, in experiences and most importantly in yourself.
